How disrespectful for Antonio to be giving TV interviews in the church last night at Honorable Edward Roybal mass and wake. Seems he doesn't have a clue. Thank you Father Moretta for sending the message to Antonio directly last night stating that "Roybal never forgot Boyle Heights or turned his back on his community. Everyone knows that was meant for AV.

So you're saying that Fr. Moretta subtly accused Mayor Villaraigosa of turning his back on the Boyle Heights community?

So if someone called Fr. Moretta at Resurrection Church @ (323) 268-1141, he would agree that the comment was directed at the Mayor?

Or are you simply twisting words that were intended to honor a great and committed man for your own personal political purposes? How pathetic!

To anon 8:40

I'm not religious, so I really don't care what Moretta said or says. I do care about the community and Villariagosa has left us to dry. My opinion, no verification needed.

There were over 700 people last night at Resurrection church. You could hear the rumblings as people walked out. I've asked those who were there and YES everyone says those words about "Roybal would never turn his back on the community or Boyle Heights" were directed at Antonio. They were also appalled that AV did TV interviews in church. Congressman Beccerra had the best speech of all.

From today Daily News:

"With last week's passing of former Rep. Edward Roybal, the Latino community lost one of its political icons.

Molina, who was one of those who considered Roybal a mentor, proposed the county recognize him by naming the Gold Line service being built on the Eastside after him.

Molina has asked the MTA board to approve the name change."

It's just too bad Roybal didn't live to see his crowning achievement. For more than 40 years Roybal endured the atrocities of D.C. politics, not an easy journey for someone with the utmost integrity. During the Reagan years he started pushing for billions of dollars to bring L.A. into the 21st Century via a modern subway. The line to the eastside should have been the first line built. But Molina, Alatorre and Villaraigosa sure screwed things up. They were like kids in a candy store over their at the MTA giving out contracts left and right to both family and friends. Millions upon millions of dollars. Molina has been on the board since it was formed in '91 - the longest serving member. And yet East L.A. does not have a subway. And guess what, thanks to Zev, East L.A. will never get a subway - just light rail. What a disgrace, Roybal hands Molina, Alatorre, Villaraigosa and Art Torres the ball, and they fumble it. Now are you starting to realize why young Chicanos refer to this over 50 generation as the lost generation of Eastside politics. David Sanchez was right - any copies of that mailer Mayor Frank?

Don't you all love how that fat pig bitch Molina now wants to name something after the Honorable Roybal? She should have done something when he received the Presidential medal from Clinton in 2001. These Latino politicans are an embarrassement to us. They are crooked, slimy, no class, wannabes for their own agenda and screw the rest of the Latinos who voted for them.

She wants to name something after Roybal, Now?

How long has he been retired from Politics? and How long has she been County Supervisor? If she wants to remove the cross from the County seal, then she could just as easily name something for Roybal.

Or turn the East LA Civic Center, train station into the "Ed Roybal Center station"

Not only did Roybal never endorse Tony the Liar, after Roybal Allard endorsed him in 1994 for Assembly, her comment was, "I really believe we got one of 'them' elected." "Them" meaning Richard "Cokehead" Alatorre, Art 'Puto' Torres, Richard "Mistress on State Payroll" Polanco, and she was right.
