Villaraigosa Is Everywhere!

You can either frame this as yet another adventure of Mayor Photo-Op OR contrast it to former Mayor Poopy (Hahn for those of you who have forgot) who worked 10-2 everyday and was either at City Hall or home.

Mayor Villaraigosa spent the morning shaking hands of riders as they boarded the new MTA Orange Line buses in North Hollywood this morning.

I can write it off as glad-handing, cynical and ego on behalf of the Mayor. And maybe all that is true.

On the other hand, the man is getting out there to the people. Even if he's insincere, its good for people to see the Mayor, whomever he or she is.

And its way more than Poopy ever did. Again, if Antonio is bogus, so be it. But if his prancing around town encourages folks to get involved, then its a good thing.

Bad analysis.

AV's "everywhere" routine DIScourages people from getting involved, it doesn't ENcourage them.

After all, they have the energizer bunny/superman as their mayor. Let the city do everything. Activism in CD14 under CM AV eroded down to showing up to the occasional ceremonial clean-up, and the loss is the districts. The same pattern of sizzle, with no steak follows him to city hall.

Look for him to neuter and ignore the neighborhood councils, too -- before long (he met with hardly any in his district from 2003-05, and his field deputies would stay only long enough to give whatever report of greeting Av had for them, while in other districts they take ideas and concepts back FROM the NCs to their CM bosses.

Having "amateurs" like private citizens and activists advise him is a nuisance. There proper place is in the home, barefoot, paying taxes and making campaign contributions every two years.

I agree with MAyor Sam .

It is a good thing for the mayor to be seen. It is important. Funny the mayors post before the new charter was voted in was symbolic and this was and should have been the duty of the mayor, now after the new city charter passing, the mayor has more influence at city hall. Let's see if Mayor Villaraigosa can continue to balance these duties.

Can you say "media whore". Mayor Hahn or "poopy" as you call him, was already comfortable with who he was. He was just not one of those who felt he needed to know everyone in the city. As long as he knew what the city needed, and how he could help, he was fine. AV, while I don't doubt his passion for L.A. and wanting to see positive change, cares too much about what folks think of him as a person. Make the tough decisions AV because that is what leaders do. There will always be those who don't want to see him do well (I am NOT one of them) but I hope he understands that he is the mayor for ALL of L.A. and not everyone can afford a tax hike for trash.

The guy is still campaigning for governor. Antonio is an addict to the cameras. He's so arrogant and loves himself he thinks he's now a celebrity. He spends more time out in the streets then in city hall dealing with all the issues. He's become a joke. Even his supporters are now saying when will he get to work.

To the poster of 7:04 AND 7:11 -

He's doing exactly what the Mayor of Los Angeles SHOULD be doing, being involved in everything that is LA.

Your former Mayor sucked. And the majority of voters in Los Angeles agreed! There's no defense for incompetence.

Your petty attacks reflect your envy. Contrary to the words coming out of your a**, his supporters are more excited than ever to have a mayor that's getting things done in our City.

You lost the election and can't get over it. Get a therapist.

Majority my ass. 9% is hardly a majority of the registerd voters in Los Angeles. Voters who stayed away from the polls for the mayor's race are now saying they should have gone knowing we would get stuck with a wannabe celebrity who loves the camera more then the residents of the city.

10:42 - He kicked Hahn's a$$ in the election! The only people who matter are the ones who actually cast their votes, not the ones who run their mouths like you seem to do.

I'm sure you've polled all those who didn't vote. Did you happen to include the ones who aren't registered in your count?

Guess you can get them all organized for the next election. In the meantime, just remember, you lost and remain on the losing side.

Now go cry to someone who gives a sh*t!

Hey midget-- Get your ass in your seat and do something besides pose for your next election brochures. Cure homelessness?? Why not take on world peace while you're at it. Just fill the damn pot holes. Everyone is on to you and your useless band of thugs and wannabes. And you'd better watch it, 10:42, or AV will come and disconnect your access!

7:07 - Too bad your expectations are so low. But that's why your sorry ass is sittin' on the fringes lookin' in. Stay there. This city doesn't need "midget" thinkers.

"sittin' on the fringes looking in" --don't kid yourself. You have no idea. But then, it doesn't sound like you think for yourself anyway. Accountability is not such a bad thing.
