How about a little humor today? From the Onion: Rove Implicated In Santa Identity Leak

WASHINGTON, DC—The recent leak revealing Santa Claus to be "your mommy and daddy" has been linked to President Bush's senior political adviser and deputy chief of staff Karl Rove.

"If this devastating leak, which severely undermines the security of children everywhere and has compromised parent-child relations, came from the highest levels of the White House, that is an outrage," said former Bush counterterrorism adviser and outspoken Bush Administration critic Richard Clarke.

Stuckey the animal service guy Antonio fired is appealing. Now just to show everyone what an idiot Rosendahl is read his quote in Daily Breeze.

....Hahn and Padilla said they were interested in hearing what Stuckey has to say....Bill Rosendahl backed Villaraigosa, saying his treatment by animal extremists -- and the mayor's response to it -- is irrelevant to his job status.

Please someone tell me Rosendahl can't be this ignorant or probably just a big kiss ass to AV.

Great story in LA Weekly. Dgarzila there are more blacks in skid row read the article. This is very sad.

Lieutenant Lionel Garcia calls “the box.” It’s an informal term in cop-speak that means the floating area of most concentrated crime in any given precinct. According to Garcia, the man with all the numbers, the box on Skid Row is currently between Fifth and Seventh streets from Los Angeles Street to Central Avenue. The epicenter of the box is Fifth and San Pedro.

The box is a drug supermarket where gang members from all over L.A. and the surrounding area come to sell crack and heroin. They sell it to the homeless who are there to take advantage of the centralized services, and to anyone else who wants to take advantage of the vast inventory and rock-bottom dope prices available at the country’s largest swap meet of despair.

The box is where addicts and people with psychiatric disorders sleep on the sidewalk. It’s where people openly use drugs, turn tricks for five dollars in Porta Potties and partake in other drug-related activities. The population of the box is overwhelmingly black.

If he's appealing, why was he fired?

There are so few people in city government with any appeal at all. . .

what a sad and pathetic joke that the county has become. Five bumbling politicians, a CAO who clearly is not up to the task and all the while foster kids die in unsafe placements, patients die at King/Drew and inmates die at Twin Towers. Merry X-mas, LA County. If your goal is population control, mission accomplished.

11:37 - people fuc*ing die everyday, everywhere in the world. It's reality and it's gonna' happen to all of us.

Maybe you should run for office since your skills are apparently much keener. Certainly your political skills will win out over these bumbling idiots.

I think the point that the poster at 11:17 is trying to make is that people are dying needless and prematurely because their lives are basically being entrusted to the county. Since the county is poorly managed, people end up dying since the county runs some pretty important things like foster care, indigent hospitals and jails. no reason for expletives - it is a frustrating situation for everyone. not sure a new set of electeds is the answer but they probably could not do any worse than 5 that are in there now.

The question is and should be , why does the writer make the effort to say the area is overhwelmingly black?

So anon 8:10

explain to us why this is important?

The whole city of Los Angeles is predominantly latino. And because the plurality is latino , maybe the latinos will fight alongside our black neighbors to say enough is enough.

Put in that context the box is in a position to change dramatically. It is surrounded. And can't go nowhere.

rest assured we won't abandon our black neighbors.
