Media Alert: DWP Rate Increase To Be Discussed At Saturday's NC Congress by "Topnotch" Panel

There will be a panel discussion about DWP rate increases at this Saturday's Neighborhood Council Congress at the Convention Center.

The discussion is open to the public and parking is free. The panel is scheduled for 11:00 AM. (Thanks Janice Hahn for helping to make this discussion happen!)

Maybe some of the newspapers can mention it and some of the other blogs can post the info, so everyone can show up for the discussion.

DWP Rate Hike Panel Discussion

A topnotch panel comprised of NC leaders, Department of Water and Power representatives, and experts in the field of financial policy will engage in a spirited and even-handed discussion of water and electricity rate hikes proposed by the DWP. Bill Christopher, former Chair of the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners and founder and Principal of Urban Concepts, will facilitate. The City Council will consider the proposed DWP rate hikes within days of this Congress of Neighborhoods discussion.

is H David Nahai going to be there?
lol when he takes over DWP.
the circle of death will be complete.

only engineers understand infrastructure.

lets talk about power.
every mutha that moves here into a shiny new development brings
1. microwave
2. heater
3. laptop or computer of sorts
4. modem
5. cell charger
6. TV
7. DVD entertainment devices
8. printers
9. digital camera charger
10. toaster
11. toaster oven
12. alarm clock
13. fan
add up the consumption, and wonder no more why a 20th century power grid no longer takes the strain when the air conditioners kick in.

so ask H. David Nahai if he can loan his first initial to 'Bradley' then at least we can have evryone start with regular names.
getting them to do more than that?
doubtful.

So now, in addition to the illiterate unemployed self-appointed representative of the people, we now have his sidekick, the Sancho Panza of Venice, the unemployed foreigner weighing in on how to run the LADWP.

I'm telling you, you can't make this stuff up it is so preposterous.

Maybe you guys ought to read LA Observed to find out that Deaton isn't sure he's leaving so fast.

Oh, he's leaving alright, but first he wants to see if he can ransom the Council to get him to leave more quickly. In the interim, he continues to draw that obscene salary. Think of his strategy as being like I'm-a-dinner-jacket's; he just keeps moving along drawing down his top salary while he decides. meanwhile, nothing much goes on at LADWP awaiting his withdrawal.

Ok, the next butt boy can come defend Matt and ZD now.

Leaving before his contract is up affects his retirement, so you can't blame him. Better to ask the question why DWP doesn't have depth of management for such contingencies.

the Mayor needs a puppet in there too. (DWP)
if anything, Deaton wants his $95,000 bonus. a la Gloria.
the precedent is in.
all city employees take note.
you too can get $95,000 if you don't like the manner of your dismissal.
in fact make it $99,500.
what the hell, the cap is 100.

Why doesnt the Mayor put him on "Disability" like the rest of us, then appoint someone to run the DWP for an intertrim time until the City pays Denton off or he finishes his contract. Other companies give "golden parachutes" to have executives to leave the company.

Under the law he can go on "Disability" and then go on to "Unemployment" then he can collect his Social Security. He wont be without funds.

If immigrant(legally documented) enters the country and is over 65, they can apply for SSI and Medicaid
and in fact, get more than my friend's Mom gets for Social Security for working from 1944 till 2004, only getting $791 per month (calculated on her DOB
1924 )and here's the "catch 22".

Interesting that the federal government provides a "single refugee" with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can also obtain an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of 2,470.00/month.

This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!

Consider sending this to all your American friends, so we can all be
ticked off and maybe get the refugees cut back to $1,012.00 and the pensioners up to $2,470.00 and enjoy some of the money we were forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50 or 60 years.

Please forward to every American to expose what our elected
politicians (Nancy P. Included) have been doing over the past 11 years - to the over-taxed American.

Dont forget that the State, County and City entities provide all the other benefits that the UNDOCUMENTED FAMILIES are qualifed for that the SENIOR ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for.

SEND THIS TO EVERY AMERICAN TAXPAYER YOU KNOW

Hey Matt:

As a mentally incompetent disabled foreigner, how much are you drawing down from the system?

How about our hero, ZD?

Full disclosure is required now.

If they qualify; they probably get more than many of the seniors who have been here since 1931, as the rule allows.

If they are a "NEW IMMIGRANT" they get the higher rate. If Matt same in, less than 5 years ago, he cats the same old rate.

How much will you get,the maximum, $1780.00 because you make more than 100K a year or $682.00 because you havent worked more than 40 quarters?
