Getting out the vote Councilman Jose Huizar Style

Why do the names of Francine Godoy and Gustavo Valdivia pop into my head when viewing this mailer ?
East Los Angeles Community Corporation Executive Director Maria Cabildo (speaking in support of CRA) and CD 14's other connected non-profits will gather for their once-in-every-four-years appointment with the polling place tomorrow, as Councilman Jose Huizar awaits the verdict of the electorate on his quest for another term in office.
The likes of ELACC's Cabildo, Legacy LA, Eagle Rock Center for the Arts and other connected non-profits, understand when they pimp for public money, that come election time, their clients and supporters must turn out for their "Political Sugar Daddy", in CD 14's case Councilman Jose Huizar.
More after the jump.
For ELACC's Cabildo, one can see that she made the proper "tribute" as noted below to Councilman Huizar and now is being rewarded with CRA cash for her get out the vote campaign.
03/01/11 Maria Cabildo (Executive Director, East L.A. Community Corp) Los Angeles, CA 90041 Jose Huizar Council Member - District 14 1325226 - HUIZAR FOR COUNCIL 2011 A - Monetary Contribution Received (IND - Individual) [Period: 02/20/11-03/02/11] $150.00 [Election: 03/08/11]

For the Eagle Rock Center of the Arts, they today posted this news bit on their website, just in time for tomorrow's vote
Thank you to Councilmember Jose Huizar for making a generous donation to Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock so that we can purchase a new sound system to provide more low-cost and free concerts and events. Councilman Huizar has demonstrated continued support of arts and culture in NE Los Angeles and he recognizes the value of maintaining a vibrant arts community.

Could it be that the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts was graced once again with some CLARTS Fund love?

For Legacy LA, paid employees like Martha Gonzalez, use community meetings to remind those that feed from the non-profit trough, to show and vote on election day.
But the connected non-profits of CD 14 may face a new era come Wednesday, if someone other than Councilman Huizar is elected. Thus, the word "audit" might become more prominent in the near future.
Your thoughts..............

Yeah, yeah.

When it's a cause you oppose, it's "pimping" but when it's one you support - and they DON'T get money from Huizar, he's "not listening" to the community's wishes.

PFaaaaah. SO, tramps-parent.

These are organizations that mean a lot more to the REAL people of CD14 than you and your rabid rambling and ranting.

Repeat after me, Red Spot...

"I, "Red Spot" (a self-chosen name meaning 'a tiny spot of coservative bile in a blue district' am WAY out-of-touch, and my candidates in CD14 will ALWAYS lose for just that reason.

It's called DEMOCRACY - look it up.

And these REAL, integrated service organizations ARE exactly the type that the CLARKS funds were created to support.

Ah, HECK, just think... If Huizar hadn't paid some staff salaries with those amenities funds, these group you DETEST would have been getting even MORE money from him.

Ain't THAT a bee-yotch!

You'd "lose" either way.

LAST CHANCE Scott Johnson, maybe THIS post that hardly anyone reads or even comments on (and that NO OTHER blogs ever reference) will be the ONE that turns out to be Huizar's Achilles heel.

Just a few hours befor election day, near quitting time.

It COULD happen?

They could also find live dinosaurs nesting under City Hall.

ANYthing's possible.

A real shame Rudy Rich doesn't have non-profit's rooting for him, or "for" profits, either.

OH, except his own bankroll.

He needed grass roots from the git-go, and all he had was rootless, self-funded astroturf.

Just think, if LA32 gets the CLARTS funds they're requesting from Huizar now, then in 2015, RED SPOT and his fellow NC boardmembers will be "obligated" to help Huizar GOTV for his third full term.

Because, according to RS, THAT'S how it works...

So, you're basically admitting here that the guy you wish had been your "sugar daddy" before now has outmanned and outgunned the guy with the misappropriated police badge.

This is just CYA, so you have some "evil" excuse to explainwhy Rudy gets trounced tomorrow.

If it helps, play that card.

Cabildo gave Huizar $150?

But didn't YOU just give Rudy even more... $200?

What are YOU trying to buy from the guy you're supporting? He can OBVIOUSLY be bought... he's a "businessman" - it's the credo they work under.

What's he promising YOU to get your money.

They both own quite a bit of government financed property.

OOOH, that's that nasty racist flyer of Rudy's where he intentionally DARKENED Huizar's complexion, to make him look more SINISTER (and more ETHNIC), than Rudy Rich.

That's a GOOD solid Glendale Republican dirty trick.

Leopards, spots and all that...

(Thanks for not "surprising" us Rudy, thanks for revisiting the "OJ is Guilty" (darkened complexion) magazine cover, they Jimmy Hahn - AV "crack pipe" TV ad, and the "big BLACK man's gonna come get you" WILLIE HORTON trick that County Club G.H.W. Bush pulled.

When do the Martinez Family posters come on to tell me that I'm Michael Turd-Jillo, or a "city worker" (posting for pay), that the Huizar "croonies" are "spinning out of desperation" and that we (OMG!) know Huizar's gone soon.

What a HUGE laugher.

Saw Huizar this weekend, briefly...

He didn't even look worried.

Why be?

Rudy's going home to Glendale Wednesday morning. He's already filled his gas tank for the LONG drive.

BUH-bye Rudy Rich. Glendale City Council elections are next month, but I'm pretty sure you missed the cutoff to file (even though your RESIDENCY there isn't in question).

NEXT time!

I'd give it the to end of March!

By then Ethics will also be looking into Rudy (and his IE supporters like the Pot Clinics) not filing their materials. Probably not a large fine for that, but it'll make a good headline - in case Rudy Rich gets any ideas about trying to run for public office again.

Correct the residents of CD 14 don't want CLARKS Fund going to salaries. The council offices get a budget for their staff. CLARKS Fund should be going back into the communities to increase public safety and city services first. If there are any dollars left then community organizations and such. To utilize this fund for salaries when services are being cut in this budget crisis is disrespectful to the citizens of the14th district. And to try and hide the expenditures shows just how Jose thinks and feels about his constituents... It's our money, the tax payers...not the special slush fund of the elected official! I mean it's nice to donate to purchase uniforms for a soccer team, but at the risk of my car breaking down and anyone else who drives over pot-holes just doesn't make sense. Leave it to the community and it's organizations to purchase the uniforms. I don't believe it's fair we have to pay twice! And furthermore, maybe a community board should make the decisions (i.e. each neighborhood council) deciding who gets the donations from the CLARKS Fund. This way we keep it clean...the money won't become part of the campaign donations to re-elect an individual to office.

Win or lose Jose will get his Rizzo moment by the end of the year. The reason he has not filed suit against Rudy is because he knows he is being investigated by the FBI.

In fact he also knows his staff and bag man have already testified in front of a Federal Grand Jury.

Instead of reading blogs from political bologna from staffers, I wish people would blog the truth...maybe then we could solve some problems. Financially our city is in terrible shape and we have some very hard decisions that need to be made in the near future. These decisions will affect the services we receive and most importantly our quality of life in the neighborhoods we live. I understand our choices are slim to choose from... This blog use to be informative, and a bit gossipy true, but atleast we were all trying to work towards a better government!
I wish we could get back to the way it was...

Surely we have seen those representing us either do or not do their jobs... That's why I like to see staffer's who live in the district work it. They have ownership and decisions affect their quality of llfe their loved ones, the business' that come and those that go and very importantly their property values!

Let's knock it off and get down to business here!

Stay ANONYMOUS-E and you won't have to eat your silly words.

None of that will EVER happen.

There IS no "FBI investigation" other than the one Rudy Rich TRIED to start by TRYING to rate our Huizar over a business deal gone wrong.

AFTER the election (when it would not make Huizar look like it was just "political" -- and Rudy Martinez is a name quickly forgotten), he's very likely to be sued. And he WILL lose.

And that's appropriate.

Huizar's hacks as REAL questions about REAL crimes and investigations surrounding Martinez.

Martinez made sh*t up to make Huizar look as bad as Rudy KNEW he was going to look when all the LAPD news came out.

Under Pacheco & Villaraigosa none of you yammering gadfleas even knew what CLARTS was (and even this blog called it "CLARKS" until a year or so ago).

The (real) people of CD14 elected Huizar TWICE by huge majorities EXACTLY to make these kind of decisions FOR US. City Council says he did it the right way (and so does City Controller).

Soooo, you got NOTHIN' but baseless beefs and pent up hatred.

TOUGH doilies, if you disagree.... you WERE NOT ELECTED to represent CD14. In the end it DON'T matter what YOU, I, or any other complainer "wants" CLARTS to be used for -- it always was, and always WILL be used the way the elected CM WANTS it to be used, in the best interests of the district, and I DARE say ANYONE elected to that seat has a MUCH better sense of what's the "best" interests are than idiot anonymous posters who were oblivious to it all until Martinez told HUGE lies about it as a campaign issue.

(And, exactly WHEN did "we" hold a vote that said "we" want to use if for "public safety" and "city services" first? What was the date, what that in the papers? Who's "we" (you, youself and you)?? You and your 5 best friends in the world? How many THOUSANDS of people weighed in to make "you" a "we".

Compare that to winning landslide elections across the district... that's called a MANDATE. Also, NO OTHER councilmember, including "Tricky Nicky", the hero of the permanent minority, ever ONCE came out and asked ANY community, how they wanted the CLARTS funds spent....EVER!

Hell, that's NOT even what the CLARTS "amenities" fund was created for...

Maybe "we" DO want it used for salaraies? Maybe "we" do want it spent EXACTLY the way our ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE has spent it... can you PROVE otherwise?

I LIKE having someone working at the council office when the sh*t hits the fan in my community, and NOT on furlough somewhere with some poor skeleton crew left there to tell me "SORRY, everyone's OFF today!"

It's not "disrespectful" to ME at all, to have a fully staffed COUNCIL office, especially when every OTHER department in the City can't even ANSWER my damn calls.

No, no, no. The handful of pissed off shouters keep trying to make the legal and appropriate use of CLARTS funds by a sitting councilmember seem like some sort of CRIME have FAR less understanding of the communities needs and a MILLION times less of a mandate to make those decisions than any one of the 15 councilmembers who are REALLY elected by us.

They already make DAILY decisions related to HUNDREDS of MILLIONS, and they make the decisions - based on FACTS and NEEDS about what to cut, rather than emotion and bluster, and personal preference, like most of those criticizing them.

I trust Huizar a LOT more then I trust ANY of the armchair quarterbacks that keep popping up with their own silly SCHEMES... and SO do the HUGE majority of voters, and we WILL see again, in about 24 hours.

COUNT on it, and THIS time, instead of whining and being stupid about how "it was stolen" or "special interests" bought them, take a GOOD hard look at yourself before you YAMMER again, and say, just for once... Maybe Huizar's not the one OUT-OF-TOUCH with the district... maybe it the few dozen ranting complainers, like you who represent exactly NO ONE!

March 07, 2011 7:56 PM

As far as NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS making these amenities decisions?

Are you SERIOUS? Have you seen what MOST NCs spend their money on... You want peons who were elected by 50-100 people (at best; sometimes only a dozen) making decisions about MILLIONS of dollars, when they can't even handle $45,000 a year.

That, INSTEAD of a professional public servant elected BY the ENTIRE district, like Huizar?

Geez, that's just INSANE! You think NCs don't play favorites and give money to board members' pet projects. That's pretty much ALL they do now! Insignificant projects that make Huizar's CLARTS expenditures look like LIFE and DEATH causes in comparison.

Boy how the tables have turned. I remember Victor Griego sending out a mailer against Pacheco in 99 where he tried to make himself look darker - browning out his red hair. I didn't think Martinez tried to make Huizar darker - the piece was a mono-color artsy photo.

If Martinez wanted to take an ethnic dig he would have put Huizar under a tree with a wide sombrero taking a siesta with a big HUEVON, embossed on top.

Too bad it couldn't come out before the election. A lot of constituents have been speaking out how horrible a job Huizar has done. The non profits need to be AUDITED. Lets see how badly Wendy Greuseome wants to be Mayor. If she doesn't AUDIT them she can expect to be nailed at every event she attends. Boyle Heights receives $1 BILLION in non profit money $$$$$.
